| I seem to hit a stretch of bad luck every year. I'm going to keep track and see if it happens again next year. Here is a list: two weeks ago on a highway, a car kicked up a board and it flew straight into Shifty, cracking his bumper... 8/30 - lost my driver's license at the security check-point of LAX 8/30 - got hit from behind by a car, and I hit the car in front of me. The two other cars were SUVs, and mine was the only one that sustained damage. 9/2 - 3pm flight got cancelled 9/2 - Got home at 9pm. Everyone in my apt complex was sitting outside due to a blackout. I had dinner in the dark on my porch

| Q: "Would you like a medium or large?"
A: "medium"
(Wendy's employee thinking: SUCKER! There is a SMALL!)
I've been had... $0.49 had... AND, i substituted fries with a baked potato, so that didn't get super sized...

| The auction was the Bomb! Man, I never thought raising money was so easy. Dinner outings and stuff went for hundreds of dollars easily. There was a live auction and a silent one. Below are some live auctions items and roughly how much they went for:
Playing trivia pursuit with the librarian: $300 Lakers game with the dean: $700 Dinner for 10 with our Torts prof: $900 Shopping with the Dean & his familiy: $400 Prof. washing your car: $150 (that was one the earlier ones.. quite sad) Playing Taboo with our Contracts Prof and Torts Prof: $400
I think you get the idea. AFter the official live auction was over, it was time to auction off students. The guys ranged from $100-$200 usually (I think $200 was the max), but the girls went from $300-$1100!! ONE DATE!! No Lakers game, no dinner, just a date!! The $1100 was an outlier though; the more normal range went from $300-$600. That girl also showed more skin than the rest though:) There were of course very sad and awkward moments when a group of girls couldn't get more than $100/girl...(e.g. they'll auction off a group of 3 girls, but the price will only go up to around $300). It was simply a bad idea to auction off groups of people for dating purposes.
The silent auction consisted of mostly crap: gift baskets, PS2 games, oooold books (one crappy book's min bid was $100), oooold posters, etc. No one bid on that $15,000 bourbon:)
Lastly, I won something! I won Cranium (Turbo Edition) for $75! That was my first ever auction win (well, this was my first auction)! I've never played Cranium before, so I think it was a worthwhile buy (I was going to bid some some crap, like the books, if I couldn't find anything to bid on). So yeah, I left with something:D

| Tomorrow will be our annual PILF auctions (Public Interest Legal Foundation, i think)! They got some crazy stuff being auctioned off:) Here is a sample:
An evening of Trivial Pursuit with Professor Brian Raphael and the Research Librarians for 3-5 students ($30)
The 2007 Hollywood Package: Be a star with “his” and “hers” Punk’d jackets and goodies from the set of “Beauty and the Geek” - all a gift of Ashton Kutcher. Wear your Hollywood gear and bring 3 of your friends to a show at The Roxy Theatre, home of The Pussycat Dolls. (4 theatre tickets total) ($50) Have an evening on the town with “Events Girls” Jill Nordahl and Sabrina Montes. Want a date with 2 beautiful women at once? Now is your chance! ($60)
Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but it seems like this guy is auctioning off an opportunity to drink with him... “Scotch and Sklar:” An evening of fine scotch and scintillating conversation with the Southern California Law Review’s Finest, Jeff Sklar ($60)
An evening of fun without torts or contracts: dinner and a game of Taboo! for up to 6 students with Professor Gross and Professor Keating ($60)
The following were all donated by this one guy. It seems like he just cleaned out his garage: Erté Courvoisier Congac. The entire 7 bottle collection was made by Courvoisier to honor the great Russian-French designer Romain de Tirtoff (Erté). Set sold by American Express in 1997 for $18,000 ($15,000, CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS????) Salt & Pepper shakers from Hong Kong ($15) A poster of John Wayne from a 1970 motion picture “That’s Action,” dramatic when framed ($100) A delegate ticket from a 1972 Democratic Convention in Miami Beach.
